“A Monk’s Tale”
October 21 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm£9.50
For the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation, the team that produced “The God Particle” are touring with this show about Martin Luther. And it’s for everyone, from people who know their Penance from their Purgatory, as well as those who aren’t even sure which Luther we’re meant to be celebrating. With a feeling of Horrible Histories and The Reduced Shakespeare Company, A Monk’s Tale helps the audience understand exactly Luther was trying to achieve with his 95 Theses (a discussion about Indulgences) and what he actually achieved (schism and Reformation).
The show is light, accessible and funny in tone, with lots of visual humour and jokes and as it unfolds, the audience should be entertained, informed and challenged. The aim is to encourage discussion, dialogue and further reading. It is suitable for all ages, young and old, Protestants, Catholics and sceptics alike.
There will be a paying bar open before and after the performance. We hope that the audience will be inspired to stay after the performance to discuss and ask questions about the ideas presented.
Tickets cost £9.50, which includes a hot drink prior to the performance. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org or ring 07788 110602 for more details or to buy tickets.
