A quick rundown…
What is happening? Football, outdoor games and crafts: all free.
More details about the food soon….
When? 11am – 2pm Tuesdays 2, 9 and 16 August; 11am – 2pm Thursdays 4, 11 and 18 August
Where? Glevum Open Space
For? Children of any age accompanied by their parent(s).
Run by Neighbourhood Chaplains of Abbey Church CIO.
The Summer Healthy Activities and Food Programme is open to families with children, whether eligible for income-based free school meals or not; and provides a midday meal and activities (sports, crafts and games) on the Glevum Open Space, next to the play park on 2nd, 4th, 9th, 11th, 16th and 18th August from 11am – 2pm (although the volunteers will be setting up and clearing away before and after these times).
The food will be served from a catering lorry arranged by the Council on the car park.
It is important to book, especially if your child(ren) would like a meal; it will help the food providers and also help those planning sports and crafts, so please go to:
https://abbeychurchcio.coordinate.cloud/list
When booking, you will be asked if your child is eligible for Income-related free school meals so the Council can keep a record of how the funding is being used.
If you have trouble booking please email office@abbeychurch.net or ring or text 07788 1106002 to speak to Abby.
If you happen to be in the open space on one of the days HAF + HAP is taking place, you and your children will be welcome to join in the activities, whether you have booked or not.

Activity Description |
Each day there will be at least one craft activity on offer which will be listed at the information table plus colouring sheets/greetings cards to colour / I-Spy style nature activities. We have some environment message posters that we’d love you to colour: the best we will laminate and tie to the park railings so you can see them displayed the next session! Some days our volunteers will include keen gardeners who will provide small pots and compost and seeds for flower/vegetable/herb planting.
There will be other sports equipment, such as swingball, for you to use and (weather-permitting) mats with toys on for you to sit on and play with babies/toddlers.
The Open Space contains a playpark which is open at all times for children to use.

Information about accessibility for SEND families | Glevum Open Space is accessible – there are no steps – and there are toilets (including disabled toilets and baby change) a short distance away at Morrisons where parents may take children.
We would welcome enquiries from families whose children have particular needs so that we can reassure you about facilities available. |
